Mr. Wilhelm Focke

Very famous artists in particular for his drawings of horses
The most famous of all GLORIA a artists - versatile in many areas like painting, sculpting, poetry. He was an aviation pioneer and soccer player.
Mr. Focke was born in 1878 and studied at different art academies throughout Germany. He participated in the group of regulars of other artists and friends such as Oskar Kokoschka, Max Slevogt, Hans Thomas or Max Liebermann. He held a chair at the academy for applied arts in Bremen and taught painting of nudes, animals or landscapes. But he adored working as a freelance artist. This is how he came to GLORIA. We still have some of his works on display in our museum showroom. He loved to draw horses - also in relief technique but everything only in black, more like sketches. Focke's horses on porcelain.
